e-Pedigree and serialization
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that nearly 10% of the drugs in the European Union and up to 50% worldwide are counterfeit. Electronic pedigree is an electronically signed document that certifies both the origin and the chain of custody of a drug.

The EPCglobal organization has developed key information-system specifications ratified in 2007:

A scheme to provide for massive and unique item-level serialization in the form of a Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN) mapped into a 96-bit encodable EPC ID number.
The establishment of a global standard for XML-based item transactions, the EPCIS (EPCglobal Information Services standard).
The establishment of a specific pedigree standard to work within the EPC ID and EPCIS framework. This e-pedigree standard is the GS1 EPCglobal Electronic Pedigree Standard.

Through the tagging and serialization of drugs, cases and pallets the complete solution manages all of the manufacturer, wholesaler and pharmacy’s processes.

Together, Advanco and SAP, provide comprehensive solutions to enable Product Tracking and Authentication process with barcode, 2D Datamatrix and RFID. Standardized interfaces are available to load data of pharma manufacturers and export data to health organizations.

Advanco’s device controller software ARC controls each specific packaging line of the manufacturer. Through the tagging and serialization of cases and pallets of drugs, the complete solution manages data into the customer’s ERP system throughout the distribution process. Thanks to our solution integration process at our customer’s plants, Advanco is able to provide the following benefits to its clients:
